Lots of change going on around here, including a completely different location for my office/studio/creativity lab! My dear parents came to visit over the weekend and my
Super Dad put his warehousing skills and strong back to good use moving me out of one room and into another. It's time for our son to have his own room and my previous office was the best option...sigh.
You may remember this picture from a previous post I wrote about my (dis)organization. Well, then you'll understand how painful it has been for me to move! Yes, I'm extremely grateful to have a room in my home where I can work, but that also means I'm confronted with oodles of things that need to be sorted, stored, organized, stashed, or shared. It's liberating to move into a new space but overwhelming at the same time.

Here's a picture of how it looks now. So organized! I'm almost afraid to mess it up. I'm implementing a new scheme to spend the last ten minutes of any work time putting away all of the stuff that I've dragged out.
A girl can dream, right? Here are a few videos about beading organizers and tools:
Now, if we could just get the little man to sleep in his new room, I might have enough energy to keep my office/studio/creativity lab in order!

I would have loved digging into that room and helping sort beads. I redid my (mostly beads) studio about a year and a half ago and for some odd reason found it quite therapeutic and was amazed at how many beads I had. Great job. Connie
your before photo reminds me of my current space..wish it looked more like your after photo..
That is awesome. Glad to know your clutter has met mine ;-)
I like the idea of the last ten minutes. I need to employ that too. But now that I have organized myself I can't find things! LOL!
Enjoy the day!

This is a very timely post for me, I'm about to move my studio in to another room. In fact my husband and a friend are in there fixing the walls right now in preparation for painting. I'll definitely take a look at those links. Thank you!
Without organization you can't find anything when you need it.
OMG ... I couldn't work in that. I would have to clean up before starting beading ... and never get anything done in the process. I envy people who can work in a state of "disorganization".
It looks great, Katie! I did something similar recently, and it has made a real difference in the way I work. My office rivaled your before, as well!
Hope to see you soon,
Molly
WOW!!! I dont feel so bad. You are a brave soul to post that pic. lol
Darling,
My work area has been a disaster lately and I am working on new designs and have not dedicated the time to put things back in place. You know me..I don't work very well on cluttered areas but somehow this time I am making it work just because I don't feel like stopping and organizing it..yet!
Your new space looks fabulous!
Beijos!
Looks fabulous, Katie!!!
Looks fabulous, Katie!!!
I find it ironic you should post about your work space. I too just moved mine. Although I stayed in the same room (for now), I did move everything around in the attempt to organize and hopefully stimulate the creative juices. So far, so good.
I do like your last 10 minutes idea...will have to implement that!

Katie,
Your reorganization looks amazing. I want to go into my studio right now and put everything away!

WOWZERS! That reminds me of the time mom and I tried to have a craft-and-chat day. Sewing supplies and jewelry making items blasted from one end of the apartment to the other. Getting organized is hard and I'm lazy. However, your post inspired me to ...clean up.
Katie - great job on the reorg! I'm in process of doing the same. Didn't change spaces but ran out of room in the space I have so bought some new shelves, new containers, and new tape for the label maker. In process and the mess is worse than where it started. But the light at the end of the tunnel is now a light and not the freight train it once was. Love catching up with you through your newsletters - was also great seeing you while you were on the East coast! xxx
