I just received some samples of Beadalon's new Kink Free Ti wire and I've been playing around with circles and other effects that exploit its super flexibility. I guess I'm into the cascading, layered look lately! What I want to know is, how do you feel about gunmetal? I'm loving all of the copper, gunmetal and other alternatives to straightforward silver and gold that are cropping up. How do you rate it? Leave a comment sharing your thoughts and you'll be entered in a giveaway for a fun chain goodie package!

Give me more Gunmetal!
I love gunmetal, any thing dark, distressed, antiqued, a little rusty and all things aged. I also love copper and bronze and gold, oh my! Love your necklace! So delicate and elegant!
it's all good, but I do see a trend for more gunmetal based products. Even though I love copper, it still hasn't really taken off yet where I love. All of the patinated brass does well. Gunmetal is a nice medium tone...not too bright but shiny enough to be fun.
thanks!
Michelle
I love how gunmetal can be designed to be casual or formal. It goes to both extremes with ease
I love to mix metals and gunmetal is one of my favorites to add especially with copper and bronze. I think it adds an earty look to the pieces. can't wait to try this new wire.
Why yes! Yes, I do love gunmetal! In fact most of the chain in my studio is not of the silver or gold variety. It is gunmetal. Or brushed nickel colored. Or antiqued copper. Even bright copper. And brass, particualarly of the Vintaj flavor, more grungey, but also of the more antique gold variety. Bring on the gunmetal! I love it.
Enjoy the day!

Gunmetal has a lure of it's own. I love the muted look of it myself. Also, never have to worry about the metal turning colors!

I guess you could say I've loved it from afar ... anything dark and moody piques my interest, but have't yet had an opportunity to work it into my own designs ... it's only a matter of time though.
Gunmetal is my fav to work with especially with pieces I'm making for myself. It has the same cool feel of silver but not the brightness that can sometimes take away from what you're trying to accomplish
I really like gunmetal for men's jewelry and I love copper and other alternatives as well. The piece pictured here is exquisite!
I love gunmetal as it reminds me of my favorite gemstone - hematite. Lots of gunmetal with a few splashes of daring color is my ideal color palette!
I love gunmetal, its very versatile. I like to use it for a more edgy look, but it can be quite elegant as well.
I love the alternatives, in fact I prefer to work with copper and even brass in a lot of cases. It seems to give a lot more flexibility for some designs -- plus, if you oops-up it's not nearly as heartbreaking a loss of materials!
WOW is all i can say... This Piece is so nice.. great job!... thanks for sharing.
I love gunmetal but always thought that customers would only want sterling and gold. I am seeing my customers becoming more open to the "other" metals and I think it is great!

Gold is too bright for me. I sometimes use silver, but I really love antiqued copper, brass and gunmetal!
Well, my question is...does it stain the skin or the clothing?
It would be fun to experiment. I love the necklace you have created.
Thank you for sharing your art!
I love gunmetal - can't get enough of it !
I do enjoy designing with gunmetal and the other new metal alternatives that we are blessed to have at our disposal. I design some jewelry pieces for men and find that most of them prefer gunmetal to classic gold or silver. I have been watching for the Kink Free Ti wire to arrive at my local bead store because I can't wait to play with all the design possibilities it offers me.
Thank you Beadalon and Katie for all you do for us beaders,
Shelly
I, too, love gunmetal. It works well with both warm and cool crystals and I especially like it with pearls.
I have been such a sterling silver snob, but with our economy as it is, I find I am much more open to different looks. Gunmetal is both a cool (as opposed to warm, as well as neat) color and a more economical option. However, here in Hawaii, it is difficult to find much gunmetal. There are scattered showers of it, but I hope to see more here in the future. I enjoy your blog, and the chance to see the way you incorporate all kinds of findings, wires, components, etc. It is inspiring!
Aloha, Rhonda
Really like the cool tone of gunmetal for summer.
I love gunmetal. But my true fave has always been copper.
I LOVE Gunmetal! I prefer the more industrial looking metals over the typical jewelry store ones such as Gold and polished Silver. Copper, Bronze, Iron, Niobium and Oxidized Silver are my faves. Gunmetal fits right in there beautifully!
Personally, I like to just say "gunmetal". Makes me feel like I'm making jewelry that's beautiful and just a little dangerous. Like I melted down a Smith and Wesson and proceeded to make chain out of it, but that's just me...
I like it--looks very cool with all the black in my closet--these circles look awesome! :)
I LOVE the Gunmetal, and I also LOVE your necklace! It is beautiful. I love the dark color of it and the different lengths and loops. The gunmetal is a great contrast on a lot of different colors.
I love the gunmetal and copper. They are a very nice alternative to gold and silver. Nice to have options. Love the cascade!
I love the look of gunmetal as well as copper, silver and gold.
After using silver for so many years, it is nice to go a different route! I love the gunmetal and copper, even together.

I love it! It's a great neutral that I really think goes either way, funky or chic.
I agree that all of the alternative metals are a refreshing look from the gold and silver. I still like the gold and silver, especially antiqued, but antiqued copper is by far my metal of choice. Beautiful necklace! Connie
Everything in balance; gunmetal, copper, stainless steel, bronze, even silver and gold – it is how they work with and within the design more than the metal, stone or beads base (or baseless) value or name. As artists and craftspeople we need to be able to use the materials and skills that work best to fulfill our dreams and not be hampered by preconceived notions of, “The way art is or should be”.
