Check out this week's featured video at
HowToTVonline.com! I show Beads, Baubles & Jewels host Katina Forté how to make a flat stitch
peyote bracelet with a fun button embellishment. If you've never tried peyote stitch before, this is a nice starter project. You work with 6/0 seed beads, so they're larger than the super tiny versions and you can see what you're doing as you stitch.

The tricky part about getting started on this type of stitch is that it's hard to tell which beads are "up" and which are "down" in the first two rows.
Step by Step Beads editor Leslie Rogalski came up with a simple technique: Place the end of a hard beading needle inside a
BeadStopper, pass the needle through the "up" beads and place the other end of the needle in another BeadStopper. This makes it so much easier to get started and keep your tension even as you work.

Oh, I love the video and the project Katie! I'll be linking.
Thanks, Rachel!
That's a great idea for the peyote! Those first couple of rows are always tricky.
