Here's a real flea market find. I bought it for $1 at an antique market last week. It's not antique, but it has good bones. I like the colors and the chunky look but the strands are weird lengths for a bracelet. The top strand doesn't lay right and the whole thing is too long for me. I knew right away what to do...

Turn it into a funky necklace instead! First, I changed the positions of the top and center strands and removed the clasp. Then, I rummaged through my spare parts box for a bit of old chain that's about the same color as the existing chain. Finally, I added 4" chain lengths on each side of the bracelet and attached a new toggle clasp to complete the necklace. I like it much better this way!

This is so genius! I have a bracelet that never quite worked. Now I know what to do with it! I'll be linking to this!
Thanks, gals! Glad you like it.
Beautiful necklace! Last night someone asked me about my favorite blogs and I thought of you.
Had to stop by and say HI and I miss you!
Hope all is well. Let's chat soon!

What a great idea, Katie. LOVE it!!
How odd. I have something very similar, minus the beads in my stash box that a friend gave me. Was thinking of making a lariat with it as it's all different sorts of sterling chain, so thanks for setting the gears in motion!!!

It's very pretty Katie.......i really like the fact that you repurposed an existing piece of jewelry.
