Ornament Thursday - Aloha Flower

This cheerful little flower is meant to make you smile. Wouldn't it make a great pin or applique? I attached it to a picture frame in my book, Hip to Bead (click link for pic of finished frame). The flower is made from layered pieces of felt, then it's embellished with seed beads, bugle beads and a millefiori lentil bead. I dig this kind of bead embroidery because it's a really easy (really, it is!) way to add dimension and sparkle to fabric projects.

Come back tomorrow for all of the links to other people's Ornament Thursday posts!

I love the Aloha Flower and would love to make it, there are so many possible uses for it! Do you have instructions for how to make it?

Glad you can see the uses, too. The complete instructions and patterns are in my book, Hip to Bead, which you can find at your favorite bookstore or library, or at www.hiptobead.com.

Love the Aloha flower, Katie. I could see that as a pin, a bracelet or a shirt - the possibilities are endless. Thanks for showing it!

Super pretty, well made and adorable flower! I really think your book, Hip to Bead, which I own (of course!), reviewed on Amazon (5 stars!) , and love, is GREAT! Jean!

very pretty and colorful...I tried making some felt shapes (not beaded, though) with my sewing machine and buttons. Thought they could be strung with funky beads to make a necklace.

Beautiful colors. I'm a complete sewing klutz, but this looks like something I'd like to try...

Great combo of colors. Bright and welcoming. And the beads sure finish it off!
