Cell Phone Charms

I'm knee-deep in preparations for the next season of Beads, Baubles and Jewels. In less than two weeks, I'll be back at the studio in Cleveland to tape 13 Beading Lessons, 2 how-to projects and a few other special segments. Needless to say, I'm going crazy! I'm writing scripts and making a ton of new stuff. This beaded cell phone strap is one of the samples I'll be showing on camera. Thought I'd give you a sneak peek.

Cell phone charms are super easy to make and they're a fun way to personalize digital accessories like phones, cameras, PDAs and iPods. To make this one, you'll need a blue cell phone strap with jump ring, a large engraved square shell bead, a 20mm round shell bead frame, a 10mm faceted glass bead, an eye pin and an eye pin.

String the engraved shell bead onto an eye pin and make a loop to attach it to the jump ring on the cell phone strap. Place the glass bead inside the shell frame and string them onto the eye pin. Make a loop to attach it below the engraved shell bead.

To attach a cell phone strap to your phone or other digital accessory: pass the center of the strap (the fold) through the attachment point. Adjust it to make the loop as large as possible, then pass the beaded end through the loop to make a lark's head knot.

Cell phone strap, eye pin and head pin from Beadalon, shell bead from Lillypilly Designs, shell frame and glass bead from Halcraft USA, Inc.

Yes, I love those beads and the color blue. I read somewhere that a majority of Americans say that their favorite color is blue. Normally, I would shun said color in an effort to be un-average. But it's the color of the sea, the sky - how can we not love it?

Can you tell I'm procrastinating? I guess that's enough waxing poetic for now. Back to work. Thanks for your comments!
