Button, Button

This button bracelet is from my book, Hip to Bead.

Last weekend, I went to a huge, outdoor antiques market. There was a ton of good fodder for the imagination: colors, textures, patterns, etc. I love going to the "vintage things rally" because it's like a cultural museum except you can touch and buy stuff. Of course, I'm drawn to the shiny, colorful, sparkly things.

Some big button bracelets caught my eye at one of the booths. When I saw those funky, dimensional bracelets, I started thinking about all of the buttons in my stash. They really deserve some love.

It's weird how these ideas seem to be floating around in the ether sometimes. Today, I got the latest issue of Adorn magazine and guess what's on the cover? You got it. Buttons! There are some fun ideas for using buttons as embellishments. I'm thinking of making some button flowers.

If you're feeling the button love, too, but you don't feel like making stuff with them, then check out these super cute button rings on Nikki's Whimsy Love blog. She sells them in her Etsy shop.

Love it!

I played this weekend with some beads and wire and used a knitting loom to create two cute bracelets. I am so happy with the outcome that I went out again and bought more beads :).
